Daily Health Tips #1: Eat breakfast!
A simple but great health tip that all people of all ages, weights, sizes, and shapes should do. Eating breakfast will help to fill you up for the day ahead of you. Having something full of protein and fiber will help to avoid that afternoon slump that people feel most days. Getting food in early also will help to kick start your metabolism. After sleeping for 7+ hours, your body is in starvation mode. You must give it food to get things running!
Daily Health Tips #2: Taste the Rainbow!
This may sound like the skittles commercial but it’s a little bit different! Eat foods with bright, rich colors. These foods aren’t just nice to look at, but they are loaded with good nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants. The darker or brighter in color your food is, the more flavonoids and carotenoids there are. Flavonoids and carotenoids are very powerful antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body. Next time you are at the grocery store, take a look around at the produce and find the most appealing looking foods…those are probably the best for you.
Daily Health Tips #3: Floss.
If you think brushing your teeth is enough, think again. It doesn’t matter how long you brush your teeth at night, your tooth brush cannot get into all the tiny, tiny spaces between your teeth. Aside from keeping your mouth clean and your teeth healthy, skipping out on flossing can be damaging to your heart. Studies have shown that bacteria that lingers between your teeth can increase your risk of heart disease. Start flossing in the morning and night!
Daily Health Tips #4: Go to the doctor.
Regular check ups at all your doctors, even your regular physician is crucial for your health. Even if you aren’t sick or don’t have any other problems, making those regular check ups is a really great thing to do. Having regular check ups can help avoid any issues later on in life. Also, get to know your family health history. Start asking around! It’s always important to know what kinds of diseases are in your family so you can do everything in your power to avoid them,
Daily Health Tips #5: Avoid fad dieting.
Too many times, people look for the latest fad diet to begin. These fad diets tell you to do some crazy things like no carbs, no fats, only dairy, no solid foods, cayenne pepper and lemon juice..blah blah blah. That is not that key to successful weight loss. The real key is to eat healthy and begin an exercise program.
Daily Health Tip #6: Drink green tea.
Swap your morning coffee with green tea. Green tea is kind of like a secret weapon for health and weight loss. People think that black tea is sufficient but it’s not the same as green tea. Green tea contains polyphenols which black tea does not. These polyphenols are excellent for heart health and cancer prevention. Green tea does have some caffeine in it, not as much as black tea, but just enough to give you a little boost!
Daily Health Tips #7: Get to know your health numbers.
Learning about your health and where you stand is very important. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar levels are all the major causes of some serious health problems in this country. Getting to know what your blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar levels are can help you stay healthy. Once you know them, aim lower! Make an appointment with your regular physician to figure out these numbers and compare them to this:
Blood Pressure: 120/80 (Ideally should be 115/75)
LDL (bad) Cholesterol: Under 100
Resting Heart Rate: Under 70
Fasting Blood Sugar: Under 100
Daily Health Tips #8: Take a multivitamin.
Ideally, you should be getting all of your essential vitamins and minerals from the foods you eat. However, it is sometimes hard to get the correct amount of certain vitamins. Taking a multivitamin each day can help to fill in the missing spots. A regular, basic multivitamin will work. You don’t need anything fancy!
Daily Health Tips #9: Eat nuts!
If you’re looking for a great source of fat and protein, nuts should be your go-to. The healthy fats and protein content of nuts will keep your heart healthy, your brain stimulated, and your stomach full. You don’t need a lot, just a handful or so will be sufficient!

The problem is that too many people do not know how to cook. Start learning how to cook so you can avoid all of that fast food stuff!
